about

I worked the night shift at an Esso gas station from 10pm until 8am. The previous night the weather was warm and balmy. There was a great smell in the air. A gentle breeze brought pollen and promises.

After work I had returned to my rooming house and my landlady had made me a great breakfast. That was all I ate back then. Breakfasts. For dinner, for lunch, and in the morning I ate breakfasts. Nothing else. Lots of bacon, eggs, and pancakes. These were my favourite dishes. Breakfast was my favourite meal.

Usually I'd go right to bed after breakfast. But the weather called me to take a walk. Aimlessly I went, absorbing the first day of non-calendrical spring.
